call for postcards...

so friends,

we've decided to decorate our toilet room in post cards. we're thinking wallpaper of various from around the world.

send us one from where you're at. send us one from where you've been. send us some whacky one you find on the sidewalk... in your sock drawer... in a random garage sale... or one you'd throw away.

Battle Hymn for Children: in the name of peace we make war.

I just can't stop running this through my head... over and over and over. And haunted by what we do to children. And hopeful that I'm one of the ones leading by example to the path of peace. Lyrics Below, and video underneath.
Battle Hymn for Children - The Faint

teacher

bring me to heaven

or leave me alone

why make me work so hard

when you know i work slow?

don't make us watch you scrape

more powder on the walls

show us a laser

take to space

or let us go

we got violent games on pause at home

you've seen this angst take shape

don't hide those guilty eyes

you gave us guns for toys

we trained with cross hair scopes

then in the name of peace we make war

sergeant

i don't remember how you said to deal with guilt

i'm haunted by families

even ghosts of soldiers kids

is it God against god

and the pawns are people?

if they're both the same god

then the battle's over

details

preacher

am i gonna make it?

am i going up?

am i forgiven for the humans i dropped?

it's not like a game once the guilt piles up

if i knew what i know now

it's easy to say i wouldn't go

i had violent games on pause at home

you know how hate takes shape

don't hide those guilty eyes

you gave us guns for toys

imposed beliefs then pride

we were taught that God prefers the U.S.A.

just like the billboard sign -"this is god's country"

if it's true that god roots for the U.S.A.

is every bomb we drop in god's name?

Sara, Sara ... so easy to look at, so hard to define.

here's to my favorite Dylan song.... and my favorite song with my namesake...

I laid on a dune I looked at the sky

When the children were babies and played on the beach

You came up behind me, I saw you go by

You were always so close and still within reach.

Sara, Sara

Whatever made you want to change your mind

Sara, Sara

So easy to look at, so hard to define.

I can still see them playing with their pails in the sand

They run to the water their buckets to fill

I can still see the shells falling out of their hands

As they follow each other back up the hill.

Sara, Sara

Sweet virgin angel, sweet love of my life

Sara, Sara

Radiant jewel, mystical wife.

Sleeping in the woods by a fire in the night

Drinking white rum in a Portugal bar

Them playing leapfrog and hearing about Snow White

You in the marketplace in Savanna-la-Mar.

Sara, Sara

It's all so clear, I could never forget

Sara, Sara

Loving you is the one thing I'll never regret.

I can still hear the sounds of those Methodist bells

I'd taken the cure and had just gotten through

Staying up for day in the Chelsea Hotel

Writing "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" for you.

Sara, Sara

Wherever we travel we're never apart

Sara, Sara

Beautiful lady, so dear to my heart.

How did I meet you ? I don't know

A messenger sent me in a tropical storm

You were there in the winter, moonlight on the snow

And on Lily Pond Lane when the weather was warm.

Sara, Sara

Scorpio Sphinx in a calico dress

Sara, Sara

You must forgive me my unworthiness.

Now the beach is deserted except for some kelp

And a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore

You always responded when I needed your help

You gimme a map and a key to your door.

Sara, Sara

Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow

Sara, Sara

Don't ever leave me, don't ever go

Human beings have five elements that stifle the spirit's ability to soar: unwavering seriousness, self-importance, lack of imagination, the mind's negative chatter, and fear.
